SOS Turtles: Sea Turtle Conservation

Did you know? For every 1,000 sea turtle hatchlings that reach the ocean, only 1 survives to adulthood. Your support can help change that.

DIVE INTO OUR MISSION

Our Vision for SOS Turtles

At SOS Turtles, we may be just starting out, but we are deeply committed to saving Panama’s endangered sea turtles. Our vision is to create lasting change. We aim to build a strong conservation effort through key initiatives like nest protection, beach cleanups, and community education.

Each step we take will contribute to a larger movement, engaging volunteers, local communities, and donors to help protect these ancient creatures. While we’re at the beginning of our journey, our focus is on making a long-term impact for sea turtle conservation in Panama.

Protecting Nesting Sites

By patrolling Panama’s beaches, we aim to ensure sea turtle nests are safe from poachers and predators during the critical nesting season.

Community Outreach and Education

The future of sea turtle conservation lies in the hands of people. We plan to work closely with local communities and schools to raise awareness about the importance of protecting sea turtles and their habitats.

Beach Cleanup Projects

We’re committed to removing plastic and debris from our coastlines, reducing the threat of plastic pollution to sea turtles and other marine life.

Research and Data Collection

As we grow, we will track and monitor nesting patterns, hatchling survival rates, and population changes to contribute to global conservation efforts.

The Urgency of Sea Turtle Conservation

Sea turtles have been around for over 100 million years, yet today they face unprecedented threats that could lead to their extinction. Six out of seven species of sea turtles are endangered or vulnerable, largely due to human activities. In Panama, our beaches provide critical nesting grounds, but these fragile environments are under constant threat from pollution, poaching, and climate change.

At SOS Turtles, we may be just starting our journey, but we know that time is running out for sea turtles. Our mission is to make a difference—starting right here in Panama. Through our conservation efforts, we aim to protect these vital nesting grounds and ensure a future where sea turtles can thrive for generations to come.
